Cultural diversity day at Akerman Health Centre – apply to take part now

DID YOU KNOW?
Akerman is a long-established surname of Anglo-Saxon origin that pre-dates the 7th century. It was often used for a bond tenant who was employed as a ploughman for a manor (acre man). Most people with this surname would have worked in the fields under a wealthy landowner.

ARE YOU A PERFORMER, RESIDENT, LOCAL ENTREPRENEUR, ARTIST OR COMMUNITY GROUP?

Would you like to be part of planning a Cultural Diversity Day at the Akerman Medical Centre?

The Akerman Medical Centre is a large and modern building in the Vassall ward, located at 60 Patmos Road London SW9 6SF.  With lots of state-of-the-art rooms and facilities currently under-utilised, the owners are working with Wigs Solutions to promote better use of these resources.

Currently one idea is to have a Cultural Diversity Day that celebrates the heritage and history of the area and of our diverse communities.

To follow this idea into fruition we’re asking groups to help us say what such a day could do for the community. It’s an opportunity to be a part of exciting proposals for partnership initiatives while promoting what you do.

If you’d like to get involved, all you have to do is to answer the following questions:

  1. The name of your proposed activity or session.
  2. A brief description the session.
  3. The health benefits it could bring (eg reducing loneliness, valuing each other, reducing isolation, increasing income, making new friends etc.)
  4. What would a cultural festival deliver to the community?
  5. What would be the value in bringing all organisations and people together to deliver this?
  6. Why would Akerman be a great place to do a cultural festival?

The deadline for responding is Friday 22nd March, 2019. If you have any questions, please contact June Armstrong ([email protected]) for further information.
