Could you be the Volunteer Coordinator for Wheat Growing in Ruskin Park?

The Wheat Growing Project Aims

  • To raise awareness and knowledge of the crop-growing and processing cycle of cherished heritage organic wheats.
  •  To be part of the local network of other urban food growers
  •  To encourage engagement around sustainable agriculture, harvest and food production
  •  To diversify the activities and attractions of Ruskin Park.Annual Activities
  •  Co-ordinating the practical tasks for the project volunteers, including: preparing the ground, sowing, maintaining, harvesting, transporting for milling
  •  Contributing to the planning of a harvest festival, led by the FoRP events team
  •  Communicating regularly with schools
  •   Identifying resources needed, working with others to secure funding
  •  Leading a volunteer groupThe Person/Persons
  •   Passionate about growing crops with traditional methods, with some relevant knowledge or willingness to learn
  •   Enjoys teamwork and networking with traditional food producers, volunteers, partners and other stakeholders
  •   Good organiser
  •   Practical, hands on
  •   Able to give a few hours a month of their timeWhat Would You Gain?
