We will miss you Jagat, a treasured Loughborough Farm volunteer

Loughborough Farm is saddened to announce the death of one of its oldest and most treasured volunteers Jagat Kumari Gurung who passed away on October 26.

Jagat was born in the East of Nepal on August 1 1936, and spent most of her childhood and grew up there.

She married Ratna Bahadur Gurung, a Gurkha British army soldier in the 1950s and spent four years travelling to India, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong-Kong before returning to her birthplace and her family.

Jagat remained in Nepal until the mid-90s moving to Kathmandu after her husband passed away, and she spent a few years there before coming to the UK in 2007.

She joined Loughborough Farm in its early days and helped us all to grow with her knowledge, joy and wry sense of humour.

“My mother was kind, loving, big heart with gentle smile,” says her son Deukumar. She has two other sons Prabhuram and Trilochan and a large extended family.

Her funeral service will take place in Ruislip, Breakpear Crematorium, HA4 7SJ on Wednesday November 12, 12.30-2pm and after, refreshments in The Clubhouse close to the crematorium.
