The Loughborough Junction Action Group (LJAG) is a volunteer-led charity dedicated to improving the lives of those who live and work in Loughborough Junction. Through innovative projects, strong partnerships, and community-focused initiatives, we create opportunities for connection, learning, and growth. Our mission is simple: to make Loughborough Junction a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable place for everyone.

Our Story

Over the Years

2008

A Community United

LJAG was formed in response to the tragic murder of Andrew Pratt in Southwell Road. Residents came together to address long-standing neglect in the area.

2010

Creativity Sparks Action

The “We Are Loughborough Junction” outdoor photographic exhibition united the community, highlighting the neighbourhood’s creativity and diversity.

2013

Loughborough Farm Takes Root

LJAG launched Loughborough Farm, transforming derelict land into a thriving community garden.

2017

Saving the Grove Adventure Playground

When the Grove Adventure Playground faced closure, LJAG stepped in to secure its future. Today, the playground still provides adventure and inclusive activities for local children.

2018

The Platform Café Opens Its Doors

What was once a derelict public toilet became The Platform Café, a vibrant community space offering nutritious meals, work placements, and training opportunities.

2018-2023

A Legacy of Greening and Engagement

LJAG expanded its greening initiatives with street planters, tree planting, and DIY workshops, enhancing public spaces and building environmental awareness. They also hosted street parties, community festivals, and health events to bring people together and strengthen connections.

2024

Securing the Future

LJAG’s dedication to the community has brought over £600,000 in funding to Loughborough Junction, supporting projects that have positively impacted thousands of lives. The organisation continues to advocate for permanent improvements and build a resilient, sustainable future for the area.

Our Trustees

Anthea Masey – Chair

Anthea leads LJAG with a focus on fostering creativity, collaboration, and community engagement, ensuring our initiatives remain impactful and inclusive.

Kathy Jones – Vice Chair

Kathy supports LJAG’s mission with a strong focus on community-building and strategic development.

Nia Dow-Taylor – Treasurer

As treasurer, Nia ensures LJAG’s finances are managed responsibly, enabling us to continue delivering vital projects and services to the community.

Other Trustees

The LJAG board also includes John Frankland, Clive Francis, Tim Gaymer, Michelle Kane, Rashid Nix, and Hazel Watson. Each trustee brings their unique expertise and dedication, playing a vital role in helping LJAG grow and evolve to meet the needs of the Loughborough Junction community.
