We invite you to our 1st Anniversary of ‘It’s Your Local Market’ and 

 Celebrating the outstanding Women in Lambeth Communities 

Just over a year ago, Andrea Brown founder of It’s Your Local Market CIC was awarded with funds from the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund in 2015 to create a community market in Angell Town Estate, Brixton.  The project aim was to bring the community together to create a green sustainable market with a combination of diverse cultural mix talents, interactive young people activities, skills development workshops, support start up businesses and networks. The stallholders provided ‘Lambeth Made’products sourced and made by local people.  The market also went on to host a variety of events and markets in localities around Lambeth and in green spaces: Max Roach Park, Wyck Gardens, Rush Common, Loughborough Junction and Windrush Square.  A year on with all the developments and community work, It’s Your Local Market is proud to have given local people of Lambeth the opportunity to be part of the market and develop community cohesion and engagement.

In the last year we have worked with some incredible woman in the community just to name a few Nadia Jones, Victoria Sherwin, Anne Wilding, Lorraine Jones, Rev Rosiemarie Mallett, Maria Santos and Anthea Massey. Most importantly our women traders in Angell Town Estate, business start ups Natasha Edwards, Hermina O’Connor, Fatimah Muhammed and Charmaine Grant who have developed their businesses through It’s Your Local Market and supported our journey. These woman are fine examples have gone beyond the exceptions of being powerful woman in their communities and represent the many local women in Lambeth.
