Award winning photographer to teach young people in Loughborough Junction

We are delighted to announce that Giles Duley, an award winning documentary and portrait photographer, will be coming to Loughborough Junction to share his skills with local young people in February this year.

The project, Made in Loughborough Junction, will give local young people the chance to study photography under Giles. They will then use their skills to take portraits of artists, crafts people and makers based in or working in Loughborough Junction.

The portraits will be displayed in an outdoor street photographic exhibition and the young people who complete the project will receive a Bronze Arts award.

Giles Duley said:  “Despite travelling the world, I can think of nothing more exciting than using my photography to tell the positive stories happening on my own doorstep. It’s also hugely rewarding to pass on the skills I’ve learnt to the next generation of photographers. I feel honoured to be part of this wonderful project.”

Anthea Masey, Co-Chair of LJAG, said: “Young people in Loughborough Junction are desperate for a chance to show what they can do. All over Loughborough Junction talented people are making amazing things with little or no publicity. Who better to inspire local youngsters than such an incredible photographer who’s own story is testament to what’s possible.”

Made in Loughborough Junction is being run by The Loughborough Junction Action Group (LJAG), working with Photofusion and the Milkwood Residents’ Association.
