Community Planting Weekend Saturday 3 & Sunday 4 February 2018

Community Planting Weekend

Wyck Gardens is being transformed!
Come and join us on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th of February.

We are planting 27 fruit trees to make a gorgeous edible avenue down through the park. The fruit trees also form the first stage in creating a forest garden, a new part of the Loughborough Farm project.

We will be showing how to get fruit trees off to the best possible start: planting fruit trees in a range of sizes, and mulching and watering them. Improve your carpentry skills and learn traditional methods of building natural tree guards from sustainably-coppiced sweet chestnut. 14 of the trees will be espalier trained, ideal for urban sites and small gardens, and we will be showing how to set these out and erect growing structures.

We will supply all tools required, including gloves, but if you have your own do bring them along. Please wear clothing appropriate for the weather and for manual work on slippery grass.

Join us at Wyck Gardens, Millbrook Road entrance, London SW9 7JD. We’ll be there from 9.30am to 4.30pm on both days. Come for as short or as long as you like.
