Thamesis Walkies
Thamesis Publications is about to branch out into beautifully designed walks books. This new imprint – Thamesis Walkies will be written by an assortment of walks leaders; local historians, poets, writers and artists. Our first 4 titles – launched through this crowdfunder. will be written by Jon Newman, archivist at Lambeth and author of ‘River Effra: South London’s Secret Spine’, ‘What to do When the Air Raid Siren Sounds’ and Battersea’s Global Reach: The Story of Price’s Candles amongst other titles.
The four publications will consist of 3 pamphlets – available either seperately or together as a slip-case bound deluxe edition and a slim volume produced collaboratively with the artist David Western and contains full colour images by him.
The three pamphlet walks will consist of William Blake’s Lambeth, James Whistler’s Battersea and John Ruskin’s Herne Hill. The fourth book will be entitled Death on the Brighton Road.
These four titles will be published (your help permitting) at the start of June 2017, to co-incide with an exhibiton at Morley Gallery in North Lambeth, featuring Jon’s texts and David’s paintings and called Between Dog and Wolf: a South London Twilight.
