Crowdfunder: Reclaimed, a Collaborative Art Project at Beckenham Palace Mansion

Enterprising farm volunteer Dave has launched this interesting Crowdfunder: Reclaimed – a Community crowdfunding project in Beckenham by HOAF projects (crowdfunder.co.uk)

HOAF are happy to announce Reclaimed, a collaborative art project at Beckenham Place Mansion. The workshop will combine the practices of Dave Sohanpal and Maria Roy. Dave is an artist who sought asylum in the UK and since then has organised funded walks as a means of improving mental health for other refugees.

Maria is a London based artist whose practice explores craft through sustainable materials extruded from archaeological and biological methods.  Maria has been leading ceramic workshops in the UK, Spain, and the Netherlands, with the aim to stimulate local people to engage sustainably with their environment.

Both artists will work together with hope to settle individuals in an unfamiliar environment through an understanding of the new soil they stand on. How is it similar or dissimilar to places of their past? This workshop will allow a chance for participants to meet and integrate with others in similar situations outside of the institution. We believe connecting participants to the natural environment can improving mental health and reduce internal struggles.
