Give us your old laptops!

LJAG Laptop Appeal

One thing LJAG has learnt from this pandemic is that many families have children who haven’t been able to keep up with their school work because they don’t have a home computer or one computer is being shared by many members of the same family.  We have also found others, especially the elderly, who have been unable to keep in touch or go to meetings on Zoom because they are digitally excluded.

We have funding from the Walcot Foundation to put 15 computers back to their factory settings and instal some basic software.  We are working on this project with local social enterprise AGT who are based in Wickwood Street.

So please, please if you have an old laptop (with its power cable) could you sling it our way.  We can guarantee that all data will be completely removed and new software installed so there is no danger of anyone accessing anything you have left on your computer.  We are looking for laptops, not old phones or tablets.

If you are able, bring them to The Platform Cafe, 2 Ridgway Road, SW9 7AH – that’s the cafe in Wyck Gardens in Loughborough Road – on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from 12.30pm to 3pm. Or we can arrange collection; please email [email protected] or ring me 07799 621582.
