National Grid is planning tunnelling works under UK Power Network’s site in Bengeworth Road to connect two new substations and a headhouse to London Power Tunnels II, a tunnel being constructed under Coldharbour Lane. LJAG wrote to National Grid chief executive John Pettigrew to complain about the excessive number of HGVs that will run through narrow residential streets with up to 120 lorries a day at the peak bringing unacceptable levels of noise, pollution and disruption to residents; and about the the impact the substations will have on residents in Southwell Road and on the heritage view from Ruskin Park. We have also sent an objection toLambeth’s planners.
