Loughborough Farm – 2 May

This coming Saturday 2 May we will be selling produce from 2pm – come on time if you don’t want to be disappointed. There will also be strawberry plants for sale. We plan to make this a regular market on the first Saturday of each month. If anyone can help Charlotte with harvesting for the stall, please come at 12.30.

This Saturday and Tuesday we will be busy with working on the garden and water harvester which we plan to make water tight this Saturday, cleaning plant pots, turning compost heaps, sowing seed and potting on seedlings. An urgent task for this weekend is to weed and water the community orchard at the end of Wyck Gardens which leads us on to our next plea for help!

We need volunteers to water the community orchard at the end of Wyck Gardens over the summer. Last year our volunteers did a sterling job watering the orchard. Some of our volunteers can’t continue this year, so we need some more recruits. We need a fortnightly commitment – one group to water on a Sunday and the other to water one weekday evening. If you can help please email Emily on [email protected].

Folks at the Beer Hive (Arch 283 Belinda Road off Coldharbour Lane) are holding a launch party on Saturday 2nd May, with music and food from 12-8pm. The party will start with a Chinese lion dance between 12-1pm, live music, gramophone DJ and face painting for kids. There will of course be good beer and Mangia Mangia will cater with a lunch menu of handmade pastas and sourdough ciabatta sandwiches all afternoon.

A big thank you to Kuparty, Karen, Emma, Charlotte, Simon, Zeenat, Ollie, Julia and Anthea who made the Wish You Were Here event at HHR Medical Practice a success! Farm produce was sold at the practice, followed by a tour. The team received lots of positive feedback. Special thanks to June, Bernadette and staff at the practice.

karen and wish you were here
