Maintenance Manager for Grove Adventure Playground

Part-time playground maintenance manager

Loughborough Junction Action Group (LJAG) is recruiting a part-time – one day a week – maintenance manager for Grove Adventure Playground, London SE5 9DT in Loughborough Junction, south London.

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to get involved in the maintenance, restoration and development of an adventure playground which was rescued from permanent closure by LJAG and a dedicated group of volunteers in 2017.  The playground has some of the most challenging play structures in London. The playground is central to the life of the local community and is much loved by local children who mostly live in the surrounding estates of social housing with no access to open green spaces.

The job involves making sure that the playground building, its grounds and its play structures are safe, well-maintained and legally compliant.  Responsibilities will include a weekly inspection of the building, grounds and structures to identify any faults, hazards or dangers to the children and young people, play workers and visitors.  The manager will be required to co-operate with LJAG chair and play leader regarding any faults, hazards or dangers identified by the play staff. The manager will be required to rectify any faults where possible or, for major faults, prepare a report and budget for their remediation.  The role also includes grass maintenance including mowing and watering at times when the playground is not being used. The manager will also work with the Grove committee on any development plans for the playground.

Employment:  on the LJAG payroll

Pay:  £18.75 an hour.
