Building Communities in Coldharbour Community Challenge Fund

Building Communities in Coldharbour have announced that round two of their Community Challenge Fund is now open. Themed Realising Resident’s Ideas, the fund is a pot of money for local projects and activities that are designed and led by local residents. Applications must be in by the 12 April 2013.

Nurture organizations will ‘hold the funding’ and support residents in making their ideas a reality. The Community Challenge Fund is intended to inwardly invest in a target area, as such –  only proposals put forward by residents who live in and around Loughborough Junction and Coldharbour ward will be considered.

Timeline for Round Two of the Community Challenge Fund 2013

12 April Closing date for receipt of completed applications
17 May Residents told the outcome of their application
31 May Activities and projects earliest start date
31 August Activities and projects latest end date
06 September Residents complete their monitoring report
06 September Nurture organizations provide receipts and a statement of project accounts

Projects and Activities Funded in Round One of the Community Challenge Fund 2012 include:

  • Brixton Underground Film Festival – nurtured by The Fountain Project
  • Reducing the Stress of Money – nurtured by Life Journeys
  • Yoga instructor qualifications, mats, and classes – nurtured by Myatts Field Park Project
  • Environmental improvements for communal areas involving local children – nurtured by Myatts Field Park Project
  • Loughborough Women’s Group pilot project – nurtured by Loughborough Community Centre
  • Arts and crafts materials for a senior citizens project – nurtured by Loughborough Community Centre
  • Purchase of laptops and an ICT training course targeting older people – nurtured by London Creative Labs
  • Film project focused on the positive contributions young people bring to community life – nurtured by Involve 2 Evolve
  • Art classes, Law Centre training and drop in sessions, quiz nights, taster theatre activity for children and parents – nurtured by LETRA
