Volunteer tour guides wanted for Van Gogh House, 87 Hackford Road, Brixton

Van Gogh House Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for enthusiastic and confident volunteers to act as guides for our tours of 87 Hackford Road, the house where Van Gogh lived from 1873 to 1874.

87 Hackford Road is a site of global historical significance as part of an international Van Gogh archive. Beyond this, the house has it’s own interesting history.  The house is currently being renovated by conservation architects. It is a small site and in order to make sure it is protected, we are designing a schedule of timed entry interpreted tours, two days a week starting in late April 2019.

If you have been a guide before then we would love to hear from you, but previous experience is not necessary – we can provide full training to less experienced volunteers who are also passionate about Van Gogh, and/or local heritage.

Volunteers will gain experience of leading groups, presentation skills, of working in leisure and tourism and of course will have the opportunity to pass on their knowledge of the area and inspire and enthuse others about London’s rich history.

The application pack containing details about the role etc. and a simple application form can be down loaded at: https://www.sanmeigallery.co.uk/van-gogh-house.

Application deadline 5pm Friday Feb 15th 2019
